Eight Mentor High School students have been named a Commended Student in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program! Students include Daniel Casey, Gianna Cesari, Caden Coleman, Andrew Freeman, Braden Lohrey, Emily Meckler, Amelia Wong and Bennett Wong . These academically talented high school seniors placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). This puts them in the top 3-4% of students worldwide who participated in the PSAT/NMSQT.

Students from the Mentor High School Science Research class, led by Mrs. Lori Cohen, received their Ohio Academy of Science Shaw Award earned at the State Science Day last spring on Monday, September 12. Current students receiving the award include Grace Chen, Haniyah Imran, Aly Klein, and Lucas Spencer.
Schools throughout Ohio come to the State Science Day with the goal of winning The Harold C. Shaw Outstanding School Award. Mentor High School is one of only 8 schools in the state who received this award based on their performance at last year’s State Science Day.
